Ana was a fantastic host- it was a treat to catch a ride to the flat from the airport with her, and see some of her favorite city sights along the way. She helped us get dinner reservations at a cosy family restaurant with fado music, and book a cab to the airport; and her welcome book had a ton of additional suggestions for guided day tours and recommendations for things to do & places to eat. The flat was very comfortable, and in a convenient part of town- just around the corner from almost everything we wanted to experience on our whirlwind tour of Lisbon! The Alfama doesn’t have a great reputation after dark, but we felt completely safe walking and taking public transportation; just don’t get lost in the smaller (and darker!) alleyways.
